Help bring local decision-making to South Wigston
A parish council for South Wigston will improve local decision-making in our area as it becomes part of the new larger Leicester City authority.
Neighbouring settlements such Glen Parva, Countesthorpe and Blaby already have parish-level councils. They are all due to become part of Leicester under the re-organisation. We believe that South Wigston should have the same level of local democracy.
If you back these plans, please sign the petition below.
A Parish Council for South Wigston
We the undersigned, petition the Borough Council and any successor Principal Authority to undertake a Governance Review as part of the process for creating a parish council for South Wigston.
Parish councils allow more new voices to get involved and help shape their own community's future. They can provide efficient locally targeted services with ring-fenced local budgets.
Only those on the electoral register and living in within South Wigston (as shown on the map below) are eligible to sign the petition.
The proposed parish council area will be the area shown in the map at the foot of this page, being the current boundary of the South Wigston ward of Oadby and Wigston Borough Council.
