Help Bring back Our Town Councils
Local decision-making for Oadby, Wigston and South Wigston
We are working to bring back town councils to our area. For 80 years, two separate councils covered for Wigston and Oadby until 1974. We believe that town councils for Oadby and Wigston and a new parish council for South Wigston will improve local decision-making in our area as it becomes part of the new larger Leicester City authority.
Across the UK, residents have worked to establish 270 new town and parish councils in the last 15 years, joiing over 10,00 existing councils. You can read more here:

Many neighbouring areas such as Countesthorpe, Great Glen, Newton Harcourt, Wistow, Kilby, Glen Parva and Stoughton are all due to become part of Leicester too. They all already have parish councils– why shouldn’t Oadby and Wigston?
A town/parish council gives residents a closer, more direct link to local decision-making. They also provide a valuable means of ensuring neighborhood priorities are properly heard by larger regional or unitary authorities.
One way to make this happen, is to get a petition of at least 7.5% of the voters in each proposed council. Please sign the petition for your area below and ensure we bring local decision-making to our area.
